Sky's move to GMail migration nightmare
Sky's customer support has been suffering from an ever increasing number of support calls after the planned migration of its
web mail system to GMail has caused headaches for some customers.
Sky announced its intention to move to Google's e-mail system earlier in the year, and switched a million users over at the start of November. Sky asked these customers to make changes to e-mail software such as pop3 server information and port numbers for themselves, as well as enabling POP3 access on the Gmail account. But the instructions sent out to customers were too complicated for some, leaving many without access to their emails.
"So why didn't Sky give its customers the tools to help them out rather than leave them on their own?" asks one blogger.
The poorly planned migration has led to criticism for not planning the move more carefully.
